Period of adjustment

It's been less than a week since my arrival to Korea, the land of the morning calm.  In my shell-shocked state, I haven't wanted to leave the comfort of our 2200 sq ft penthouse apartment in the expat-infested neighbourhood of Itaewon.  If it wasn't for my zumba-obsessed neighbour who insists on dragging me out this morning for a class, I might never leave.  I feel just fine drinking my coffee (or pinot grigio) and looking out off the balcony onto this foreign land, reflecting on my what my new purpose is in this life as an expat.

Itaewon's proximity to the us army base in Seoul makes it a very western and multicultural area.  So far I haven't had one single Korean meal (except for the delicious bulbogi my manfriend prepared for me last night; that's right, he's been doing my laundry, making me coffee and cooking for me during my period of adjustment) our meals out have included delicious foods such as Italian pizza, Louisianian pulled pork, American-style brunch, French pastries and other international fair.  During the move preparations, packing, quitting my job and saying goodbye to friends and family I was in denial and I think I still am!
